How many of you are dreading Thanksgiving because these issues are probably going to come up at some point? Are you dreading the comments your family members are going to make about Islam? Dreading what your family thinks should be done about refugees? Or what about *gasp* being put on the spot and asked to give your opinion on any one of these topics?
There are some heavy-hearted happenings in our world right now. The Paris attacks. Syrian refugees. Presidential debates. The 2016 election. School shootings, which leads to a debate about gun control.

My heart fell when I heard about the shooting at Umpqua Community College (UCC) yesterday. It always stings a little more when such an event happens in your own state and in a community not so far away. This week is National Suicide Prevention Week, so this week I am letting you know how you can help a friend or loved one who is depressed and contemplating suicide. I recently wrote a guest blog post for Sharon Martin, LCSW. Sharon is a social worker in San Jose, CA, who specializes in perfectionism, codependency, stress and anxiety. She has written many valuable blogs on these areas, so I was thrilled when she asked me to write a guest post for her!
